Cambridge man arrested on more than 30 charges following chase
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A Cambridge man is behind bars after he allegedly led police on a chase late Monday night. The investigation began just before 11 p.m. when officers tried to stop a motorized scooter around Rigby Avenue and Camelia Street for not having any taillights and driving erratically. The operator failed to stop and reportedly continued driving recklessly, running stop signs and disobeying traffic laws. The operator continued fleeing on the scooter until the 500 block of Saunders Avenue, at which time the operator lost control of the scooter and jumped off, fleeing on foot. While fleeing, officers noticed the suspect reaching into the waistband area of his clothing.
Weapons detection systems to be implemented at Seaford High after gun incident Thursday
Seaford High School will begin using a weapons detection system Friday after a gun and a knife were found in a student's possessions Thursday. The items were found during a "student disciplinary procedure" in which staff searched the student's belongings, a statement from the Seaford School District said. A school resource officer immediately detained the student, and no one was harmed.
Cambridge Police Ask for Public’s Help in Solving 2020 Homicide
CAMBRIDGE, MD - The Cambridge Police Department is turning to the public in hopes of solving the 2020 homicide of a 54-year-old man. On August 30, 2020, just before 5 p.m., police found Ernest Jones Jr., of Cambridge, suffering from an apparent stab wound at a home on Pine Street. Despite life-saving efforts from first responders, Jones succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The ensuing investigation concluded with Jones’ death ruled as a homicide.

City of Cambridge files lawsuit against CWDI for alleged violations of transfer agreement
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The City of Cambridge has filed a lawsuit against Cambridge Waterfront Development, Inc. (CWDI), CWDI Holdings, and Yacht Maintenance. We’re told the lawsuit is seeking $75,000 in damages and is requesting that the Court issue a temporary, preliminary, and permanent injunctive relief enjoining the Defendants from transferring any portion of property in violation of a 2022 Transfer Agreement.
Second man arrested for March incident in Trappe
TRAPPE — Two men have been arrested for an incident that took place on Howell Point Road on March 23 in Trappe. Flamond D. High Street house fire under investigation
CAMBRIDGE — The cause of a fire that started in the exterior of a two-story, single-family home in the 400 block of High Street is under investigation. According to a news release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the one-alarm fire, which occurred on April 29, was discovered by a neighbor. It took 20 firefighters 20 minutes to control. The Office of the State Fire Marshal said the fire resulted in an estimated loss of $10,000. No injuries or deaths were reported. Rescue Fire Company was the primary responding fire department on the scene. The Office of the State Fire Marshal said that those with any information about the fire should call the Lower Eastern Region of the Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-713-3780.
