TRAPPE — Two men have been arrested for an incident that took place on Howell Point Road on March 23 in Trappe.

Flamond D. Woolford, 18, of Cambridge, was arrested Monday by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and charged with home invasion, kidnapping, first-degree assault, armed robbery, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm in a violent crime, conspiracy to commit the crimes and other related charges.

On Thursday, Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrested Yahjay N. Greene, 22, of Easton, for his alleged involvement in the incident and charged with the same charges as Woolford.

Police said investigators identified Greene as being involved in the incident. They contacted the United States Marshal’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force for help with locating Greene.

Upon investigation, Greene was located and arrested without incident in Sykesville on Thursday, police said. He was transported to Talbot County Central Booking Facility and had an initial appearance before a district court commissioner.

He is being held at the Talbot County Detention Center without bond.

Police said investigators identified Woolford as being involved in the incident and obtained an arrest warrant for him. According to the news release, Maryland State Police stopped a vehicle on eastbound Route 50 in Queen Anne’s County that Woolford was a passenger in. After the trooper determined Woolford was wanted by the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Woolford was arrested without incident, police said.

Woolford was taken to the Talbot County Central Booking Facility for an initial appearance before a district court commissioner.

On March 23, residents south of Trappe were told to shelter in place while police searched for four people suspected in gunshots being fired.

Despite an hourslong search, the suspects in the incident were not found. Police were hindered by a steady downpour throughout the morning.

Deputies responding to the shots fired call found a lone subject walking on Howell Point Road. The individual reported being forced into the vehicle in an apparent armed robbery attempt.

As deputies and troopers spoke with the individual, a vehicle approached, stopped and then put the car in reverse and attempted to flee when a deputy ordered the occupants to show their hands. The car drove into a ditch, and four people got out and fled into the surrounding woods, according to a report from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies — with assistance from Maryland State Police, Natural Resources Police, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and police from Easton and Cambridge — conducted “exhaustive searches” in the area with about 30 officers and police dogs.

“The rain made things a mess, but nothing that couldn’t be worked through,” sheriff’s Lt. Steve Hall said.

The Sheriff’s Office said it was assisted by Maryland State Police and the Cambridge Police Department for this investigation, which is ongoing.
