It’s peaceful in that those overwhelming, vomit-inducing, perhaps unfixably terrifying problems of the world have shut up for five minutes. They’ve shut up in precisely the place where students are chanting about them and painting signs. It’s where the whole national media apparatus has decided to center their latest campaign of needless fear-mongering, and it feels peaceful. I can’t help but hyperbolize: The encampment is magical.
BREAKING: Common Council Approves Short Term Rentals, Justice 50 Resolutions
The Ithaca Common Council voted to pass a measure on short term rentals and a measure on Justice 50 — an environmental proposal. After over 10 community members weighed in on the policy during the public comment section of the meeting, the resolution on the Short-Term Rental Ordinance passed with 10 votes to 1, with only Margaret Fabrizio (D-Fifth Ward) voting against the measure. The Justice 50 resolution was approved in a unanimous vote.

Cornell University may impose another round of suspensions related to the Palestine protests on campus, school officials announced. Student protests broke out on the CU campus Thursday morning and continued into this past weekend as a student-led coalition set up tents in the university's Arts Quad, and now the university is threatening suspensions for students and human resources reports for staff involved.
Suspended Protester Rejects Offer to Receive Academic Credit in Exchange for Discontinuing Encampment Involvement
On Tuesday, Nick Wilson ’26 rejected a deal from the University to receive academic credit for the Spring 2024 semester in exchange for discontinuing his involvement with the pro-Palestine encampment on the Arts Quad. Wilson was one of four students suspended on Friday for participating in the encampment, which meant he would lose all credit from this semester.

Sporting sunglasses and clutching portable chargers, students offer advice about what to bring, wear and expect on Slope Day, as the University tradition rapidly approaches. In an email sent to the Cornell community, the Slope Day Programming Board clarified that attendees are required to bring their student ID and Slope Day wristband.
