Lincoln, Tillamook counties to receive Secure Rural Schools Funds
Lincoln and Tillamook counties will share in $47.7 million being sent to Oregon in federal payments under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act (SRS) for schools and road maintenance, youth job training, wildfire prevention, watershed restoration and habitat conservation. Lincoln County will receive $1,298,614.26, and Tillamook County will see $662,760.56, allocated from the U.S. Forest Service, with more expected from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) soon, according to U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley. ...
Post office in Gearhart gets reprieve
GEARHART — A new contractor has signed with the U.S. Postal Service to preserve the unit on Pacific Way that was scheduled to shut down at the end of April. The contract postal unit has over 700 P.O. boxes. Customers had been told in late March that their P.O. boxes would be moved to the Seaside Post Office a few miles away if a new contractor could not be found in time.
