A 72-year-old Weston doctor has been sentenced to a decade behind bars following his conviction on charges of unlawfully dispensing a vast quantity of controlled substances. Dr. Osmin Morales, as noted in a statement by United States Attorney's Office, received a 10-year federal prison sentence on April 25, for his role in operating a pill mill type clinic.
Bowling Green State University gets largest single scholarship gift in Ohio history
Bowling Green State University is expanding its partnership with the Thompson Foundation to bring $150 million dollars in scholarships to students by 2035. Through the Thompson Working Families Scholarship program, Bob and Ellen Thompson said they intend to give at least $121 million in scholarships to university students, with the possibility of extending the program with $30 million after 2035. This will be the largest single scholarship gift ever given in the state of Ohio, according to BGSU.
Adopt a dog at a discount at Wood County shelter
BOWLING GREEN — A week-long adoption event is going on at the Wood County Dog Shelter, 1912 E. Gypsy Lane Rd. National Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet Day is recognized annually on April 30, to raise awareness for the thousands of pets that are waiting for and needing adoptions from shelters. Wood County is honoring that day with an adoption event this week. The dog adoption fee of $75 is reduced to $25, and adopters will be provided with a goodie bag. Adopters are encouraged to bring their entire household, dogs included, to meet the dogs before adopting. Adopters must purchase a $14 dog license.
