Napoleon man arrested after menacing incident, failure to cooperate

NAPOLEON — A Napoleon man was arrested here Tuesday following a menacing complaint and his failure to cooperate with officers.

Wyatt Philpot, 48, was charged with menacing, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, following the incident around 12:22 p.m. Tuesday on Filmore Avenue, the street on which he resides.

A press release from the Napoleon Police Department indicated that Philpot was found to be the offender in the incident, but when officers went to serve a warrant upon him, he “denied the officers entry.” A search warrant was obtained and the Napoleon Special Response Team was called in to carry out the warrant.

Philpot was thereafter “taken into custody with no further incident.”

He appeared Wednesday in Napoleon Municipal Court and pleaded not guilty to the charge which is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on May 13.

Philpot was given a personal-recognizance bond with conditions, including that he complete a mental health assessment within 60 days.
