This year’s citywide garage sale in Le Center had more treasures in store than ever before, as a new Market in the Park was added to the semi-annual event. Over the weekend Thursday through Saturday, shoppers browsing through the 32 garage sales happening around town could stop by Plut Park near the swimming pool to continue their shopping spree. DNA on beer bottle leads police to burglary suspect
DNA on beer bottles left at two burglaries in St. Peter last summer led police to their suspect. St. Peter police were called to a home on the morning of June 16, 2023 for a report of a burglary. The husband told police he and his wife woke up that morning to find the kitchen window screen had been damaged. The man then discovered that someone had gone through cabinets, drawers, and dressers and taken a wide variety of items, according to a criminal complaint.

Woman found dead in home after early Tuesday fire in St. Peter
An elderly woman was found dead in her home, apparently killed in an early Tuesday fire, according to St. Peter law enforcement. St. Peter Police Chief Matt Grochow told the St. Peter Herald that, "As a result of the fire, a person had been found deceased inside the residence, and that investigation continues. Corner Bar at 100 Main St. W in New Prague has on its main door, “Sorry we are closed due to roof repairs.”. According to New Prague city staff the bar’s liquor license expired March 31. Planning/Community Development Director Ken Ondich said the local bar had submitted an application for a liquor license with other liquor establishments before the March 31 deadline, but the business did not have an approved lease for its location. The license could not be renewed because there was not a valid lease, said Ondich.
