Bainbridge man gets four years in prison
A Bainbridge man sentenced to four years in prison on trafficking charges was among two people sentenced recently in Highland County Common Pleas Court. Nathan Snodgrass, 48, was sentenced to 12 months in prison on one count of aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree felony, which was ordered to be served consecutive to three years for another count of aggravated trafficking in meth, a second-degree felony. Snodgrass was also given 70 days of jail-time credit.

Division of State Fire Marshal rules out foul play in Waverly fire; cause remains undetermined
The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire & Explosion Investigations Bureau continues to investigate the fire that occurred in the apartments above Perry Glass, located at 213 Market St. in Waverly. The exact cause of the fire remains undetermined; however, investigators do not suspect foul play as a factor. In addition, accidental causes cannot be ruled out.

Annual Wildflower Trilogy hikes set for Saturday, May 4
Pike Lake State Park Naturalist Matt Minter will be leading his annual “Spring Wildflower Trilogy” of hikes on Saturday, May 4. Minter has led the wildflower hike at Pike Lake State Park since 1977. Once again, Minter will lead a series of three hikes. Marshall Stockmen hold meetings
The Marshall Stockmen 4-H Club recently elected officers and the Clover Buds made flower pots. They scheduled the next meeting for April 15, when they made goal boards and went over new business. The Clover Buds made cards for the Georgetown Veteran’s Home. The next meeting is scheduled for May 7th at 7 p.m. at the old Marshall firehouse. The club officers are: president, Hailey Cornett; vice president, Shannon Combs; secretary, Mercy Combs; news reporter, D’lelah Laber, with assistants Olivia Cole and Peyton Tyler; recreation, Cade Shoemaker; and devotions, Kelsie White, Patton Laber and Gabe Michael. McClain FFA awarded 2nd in state livestock judging competition
The McClain FFA Livestock Judging Team recently took second place at the state level. The team includes members Leah Lovett, Hunter Miller, Cade Sponcil and Olivia Stegbauer. The Livestock Evaluation Career Development Event challenges FFA members to recognize quality production animals. At the state level, students are tasked with completing market and breed genetics activities and giving oral reasons on sets of production animals.

Pike County team works to capitalize on natural and cultural assets
Waverly — An eight-person team from Pike County participated in a three-day workshop designed especially for towns and communities bordering national or state parks, forests, and other treasured public lands in the Appalachian Region. Hillsboro man charged with bank robbery
A Hillsboro man is being held in the Ross County Jail in Chillicothe after being charged in the April 18 robbery of the Buckeye Savings Bank in Bainbridge. Williams L. Eads, 49, has been charged with robbery, a third-degree felony, by the Ross County Sheriff’s Office and is being held on a $25,000 bond, according to Chillicothe Municipal Court online records.
