NY state money to develop Plattsburgh infrastructure and housing
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) - New funding from New York’s state budget will help beef up housing and infrastructure in the town of Plattsburgh. More than $590 million is being set aside state wide for chips funding, which is a pot of money that’s used to repair roads. The allocation is an increase of about $60 million compared to last year. Town Supervisor Michael Cashman says it’ll help with paving projects. Also in the budget, more than $600 million for pro-housing communities.
Overnight gunfire in Colchester
COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) - Police are investigating a shooting in Colchester overnight. Just after midnight, police received reports of a shooting near Sharrow Circe. When police got there, they spoke with witnesses and collected ballistic evidence - indicating someone shot a gun. Right now, police say no one was hurt, and they have no suspects. They believe this is an isolated incident. Anyone with information should call Colchester P.D.
Part of Telegraph Road in Peru, New York closed indefinitely due to culvert repairs
PERU, N.Y. — A section of Telegraph Road will be shut indefinitely on Friday afternoon as crews begin work to fix a major culvert collapse. Town of Peru officials announced that Telegraph Road between houses #403 and 382 will be closed for the foreseeable future as of Friday, April 26 at 2:30 p.m.
Baby goats steal hearts during snuggling sessions
SHELBURNE, Vt. (WCAX) -Baby goats stole hearts at a goat snuggling session in Shelburne. The herd lives at outdoor learning space New Village Farm. They’re getting snuggles all spring through the farm’s public Saturday Snuggle Sessions. Started as a way to bring in extra cash after a weird winter, the sessions have become a joyful ritual for Shelburne residents and beyond.
