Old K-14 resurfacing is set in Sterling, Reno County
RICE AND RENO COUNTY — Resurfacing will start soon on Old K-14 in Sterling and Reno County. A contractor for the Kansas Department of Transportation will do an asphalt mill/overlay on Old K-14 through Sterling. The work is expected to start on the south side of Garfield Avenue and move north to a little north of West Kansas Avenue.

K-14 ramp closure schedule changes
RENO COUNTY — Current K-14 ramp closures at Wilson Road are expected to end sooner than scheduled. The exit ramp from northbound K-14 to Wilson Road is now expected to reopen around 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30. The entrance ramp from Wilson Road to northbound K-14 is now expected to reopen around 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1.
HutchCC Meat Evaluation Team claims National Championship
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College meat animal evaluation team wrapped up a strong spring with a national championship from the All East Intercollegiate Livestock Judging contest hosted by Mississippi State University April 18-20. This was the inaugural event for junior colleges to compete in this type of contest in an organized setting. Not only was HutchCC the high-ranking junior college team, but they outscored every university team in the overall contest.

Dirt racing returns to Hutchinson, more than 2500 fill the grandstands
HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) - Friday night was the grand opening of the Salt City Racetrack; it’s a new name for the old dirt track on the Hutchinson fairgrounds. The race was an event many were worried wouldn’t happen after the state fair board voted to demolish the track over a year ago. But thanks to the community banding together and creating the Save Our Track movement the track will live to see another year of racing.
