LAKELAND, Fla. — A Port Charlotte man was involved in a 130 mph chase with state troopers, which ended in a crash that ripped a car apart in Lakeland Thursday night. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 11:54 p.m., a Toyota Camry was spotted by a trooper heading west on I-4, going 102 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Port Charlotte drug dealer receives 12-year prison sentence
FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Port Charlotte man was sentenced on Friday to 12 years in prison for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. According to the State Attorney's Office, 58-year-old John Alton Knight, Jr. was arrested by Charlotte County deputies on August 9, 2022, after he was found with over 2,700 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 49 grams of fentanyl.

Kevin Doyle, owner of Celtic Ray Public House Irish pub in downtown Punta Gorda, and his partner, S4 Global Investments, were found in violation of the city’s exposed soils code. Doyle and S4 Global own three adjoining lots used for overflow parking for Celtic Ray and for events at Laishley Park.
