Man shot in the leg in Syracuse, police say
Syracuse, N.Y. — An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg Monday evening on Syracuse’s South Side, police said. Officers responded around 8:20 p.m. to a call for shots fired in the 100 block of West Newell Street, according to a news release from the Syracuse Police Department. They found numerous shell casings at the scene, the release said.

Trial begins for Syracuse man accused of killing Baby Dior
Syracuse, N.Y. – A trial for a Syracuse man accused of fatally shooting 11-month-old Dior Harris in 2021 started Monday with jury selection. Jesse D. Outley, 27, was the second person charged with participating in the drive-by shooting in the 300 block of Grant Avenue that killed Baby Dior and left a 3-year-old girl and an 8-year-old girl injured on April 11, 2021.

Couvertier’s name was the fourth one called when Housing Visions, a not-for-profit organization that develops affordable housing in Syracuse, held a lottery late last year for 128 new apartments in a century-old Syracuse factory famous for the house on its roof.
