COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Fire officials in Coeur d'Alene are seeking information about an apparent arson that occurred on Tuesday night. According to the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department (CDAFD), investigators determined a house fire on Centennial Place was intentionally set by an unknown person or persons. In an attempt to figure out who the potential suspect or suspects may be, the Idaho State Fire Marshal is offering a $5,000 reward for any information about the fire.
US Forest Service seeking public feedback on northern Idaho projects
SANDPOINT, Idaho – The US Forest Service is requesting public feedback on a proposed thinning of trees around Priest Lake, Bonners Ferry and the Sandpoint Ranger Districts. According to the Forest Service, thinning the trees would promote the ecological health of the region while reducing the risk of wildfires.

Emergency food, shelter funding available to Kootenai County nonprofits
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Local food and shelter organizations can apply for funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Kootenai County has been awarded $65,515 for the emergency food and shelter phase 41. The state also awarded Kootenai County $44,438 from some “set aside” funding for the emergency food and shelter phase 41. Phase 41 is a FEMA funding mechanism for the year 2024.
Mill Street will be closed for at least a month in Rathdrum
RATHDRUM, Idaho — Drivers in Rathdrum should plan to use alternative routes during a month-long closure of Mill Street. The Idaho Department of Transportation (IDT) announced the roadway will be rebuilt between SH-53 and the railroad tracks starting May 6. Crews will focus on lowering the grade of the road and gas line underneath while replacing and improving curbs and sidewalks.
