The 53rd annual Wild West Days in Zimmerman kicked off Thursday, May 23, and runs through Monday, May 27.

It started with a carnival, beer tent and fair food on the grounds of Zimmerman City Park at Second Street East and Main Street.

Things heated up and expanded on Friday, May 24, when more food vendors, a mercantile, pony rides and a petting zoo were added along with live music from The Maddy Braun Band that night.

The Wild West Days 5K and 1/2 Mile Fun Run to help support the Zimmerman track and cross country program was slated to get things rolling on Saturday morning. The event starts in Grams Park, 26655 120th St., Zimmerman. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the Kids Fun Run (1/2 mile) begins at 10 a.m. Runners and walkers welcome.

Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28, downtown Zimmerman will be packed with activity from morning through 10 p.m. with a host of outdoor fun, including a noon parade on Saturday and fireworks to cap everything off on Sunday night.

There will be a softball tournament on Saturday, and disc golf and bean bag tourneys on Sunday, a kids pedal tractor pull on Saturday, a car and bike show on Sunday, and bingo on both weekend days.

Whiskey and Water will perform from 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.

In addition to the other activities, there’s a chance to get old-fashioned photos taken of yourself, family and friends on Sunday.

The fireworks are scheduled after the close of the carnival and other vendors at 10 p.m. Sunday. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be held on Monday, May 27.

Wild West Days is operated by the Zimmerman Community Club. The club’s mission is to support activities that enhance the well-being of the larger community.
