59-year-old inmate dies Sunday at Omaha hospital
OMAHA, Neb. — A 59-year-old inmate died Sunday at a hospital in Omaha, according to the Nebraska Department of Corrections. Douglas Dowding was serving a 43- to 50-year sentence sentence at the Omaha Community Corrections Center for kidnapping and first-degree sexual assault in Douglas County and theft and possession of a controlled substance in Sarpy County.

La Vista Days summer kickoff celebration to be held this weekend
LA VISTA, Neb. (WOWT) - La Vista’s annual tribute to the summer season returns this weekend, complete with a new, but familiar name. La Vista Days, returning to the event’s original name, is set for Friday and Saturday, May 31 and June 1. Friday events include a free concert at The Astro featuring Nirvana and Journey tribute bands. Tickets for entry to the amphitheater are required and may be obtained online.
