YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The next time you sit down to eat, look at the plates and silverware. It tells a historical story.

A new exhibit at the Tyler History Center features elegant dining items from the last 200 years.
The plates, cutlery, platters, even salt shakers and buckle dishes.

Arts for the Table was an exhibit put together by 20 YSU art history students. They curated, researched and put together the exhibit from Mahoning Valley Historical Society (MVHS) items and others from private collections to celebrate the dining experience.

“They really took the project on and took ownership of it. They developed a brochure. They developed graphics, and they chose themes to explore and curated exactly what would go into the exhibit. Then, did all the research and put it together,” said Jessica Trickett, MVHS collections manager.

Arts for the Table opened Tuesday and will stay on display through August 18.
