    YSU adds prolific scorer from transfer portal

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State men’s basketball has officially added the program’s fourth transfer portal addition of the offseason with the commitment of Ty Harper from The Master’s University.

    The 6’3″ guard made the announcement on social media last Friday and the team made it official with a post on Thursday nigh t.

    While at TMU, which competes at the NAIA level, Harper averaged a team-high 20.2 points per game while shooting 47% from the field and 40% from 3-point range. He was named All-GSAC and a 2nd Team All-American for his efforts.

    Harper reached the 20 point mark in 18 different games last year while dropping a career-high 43 points before following up with a 37 point performance.

    Prior to this past season, Harper spent his first two seasons at Louisiana before transferring to Eastern Washington for the 2022-23 season, and appeared in 56 games between the two programs. He was also ranked as a top 100 recruit by ESPN out of high school in Louisiana.

    YSU hoops has added four players through the portal in Jason Nelson (VCU), Nico Galette (Sacred Heart) and Siem Uijtendaal (Canisius).
