YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Twinsburg-based nonprofit debuted its full-length music video made by Youngstown-area students.

The music video for “May the Sun Go Down on the Violence” was posted on YouTube Thursday.

It was filmed throughout Youngstown under the direction of OK, Inc.

The video shows the pain caused by gun violence and aims to put a stop to it. Valley Christian senior Reia Frost helped with the song and was the vocalist.

“I’m really grateful for being able to be part of something like this so I can help give awareness and try to stop the violence,” Frost said.

Frost calls working on the project an “amazing” experience.

Community leaders gathered Thursday to talk about the state of juvenile crime in Mahoning County.

Mahoning County Juvenile Court and OK, Inc hosted the Youth Gun Violence Summit where law enforcement, clergy, members of the juvenile justice system and other community leaders gathered at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. The goal was to bring people together to talk about juvenile crime both locally and across the state.

Judge Theresa Dellick says the number of admissions to the Ohio Department of Youth Services from Mahoning County is down 75%.

“We know our youth need opportunities. They need positive values. They need families. They need mentors. They need education, and those are all the people that are in this room today. We need to know how we work together more to lower these numbers even more,” Dellick said.

The summit provided a place for people to talk about ideas and new programs that could be established to continue to reduce juvenile crime.
