In March, inmates at the Sonoma County jail listened as a live Zoom broadcast from New York City brought the sounds of classical music into the detention facility. But, it wasn't just any music, these were compositions written by the inmates themselves, and a video taken by jail staff and shared with The Press Democrat of one inmate hearing his music being played has resonated with the internet.
Virtual public workshop about county’s road safety to take place Apr. 25
MENDOCINO Co., 4/23/24 – The Mendocino Council of Governments is hosting an online public workshop to discuss the updated safety plans for Fort Bragg, Point Arena, Ukiah, Willits and the county as a whole. The safety plans were developed by a consulting firm and seek to improve safety for all modes of transportation in the county, including during emergencies. The workshop takes place on Thursday, April 25 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Santa Rosa man convicted, to be sentenced in 2022 shooting
A Santa Rosa man faces life in prison when he is sentenced for a May 2022 shooting that left a man with a gunshot wound to his neck. A jury convicted Jose Figueroa Baltazar Thursday in Sonoma County Superior Court of attempted murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic gun, unlawful firearm activity and possessing ammunition.
