Two-vehicle head on crash sends two to the hospital
A two vehicle head-on collison at State Highway 111 E and FM 1447 between Yoakum and the Crossroads was reported on the morning of April 22. Traffic was delayed for about an hour. A call came in at 7:59 a.m. to the Yoakum Police Department regarding the accident. Yoakum Emergency Medical Services, Yoakum Volunteer Fire Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Lavaca County Sherrif Office, and the Lavaca County Emergency Medical Services were on the scene. The highway was closed for a medical helicopter to land. One male was transported to the a hospital in Victoria and one male was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Kyle. No other reports were provided at press time.
Lee County murder, robbery suspect arrested in Gonzales
A suspect in a March 5 Lee County robbery-homicide was arrested last week without incident by Gonzales police. Atlantic Anthony Eredia-Johnson, 27, was picked up by the Gonzales Police Department after an arrest affidavit revealed he was one of three suspects Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe took part in the robbery and shooting death of Carlos Ramone Greene.

The 2004 Shiner Comanches Class 1A baseball state championship team were recognized prior to Friday’s home game with Flatonia. The team had an overall record of 23-9 and went 9-1 in 29-1A to claim the district championship. The Comanches posted an 8-1 record in the playoffs. They defeated Maud 8-7 in the state semifinals and played Follett in the 1A championship game. Shiner claimed the crown with an 11-0 victory.
