PORTLAND (WGME) – A group of residents in Portland are gathering signatures for a referendum that would change the city’s hazard pay law, according to the Press Herald. Currently, if the governor declares a state of emergency, Portland employers are required to give minimum wage workers hazard pay, which is a 50-percent increase from $15 to $22.50 per hour.
