A decent start to another active weather day as we begin our weekend with afternoon mountain thunderstorms in Northeast Oregon
An unstable atmosphere with plenty of cold air aloft throughout the region. This could lead to some isolated thunderstorm development that won’t be very severe but will produce heavy rain, small hail and some breezy conditions where storms occur. Best chance for thunderstorms will be in Northeast Oregon today. Temps warm back into the mid and low 70s for the Columbia Basin and Yakima Valleys, into the mid and upper 60s with the mountains in the 50s. A cold front comes Saturday to drop temps by a handful of degrees and bring in some early morning rain showers. Gusts both days will be in the 25-35 mph range with winds 10-20 mph. Friday afternoon/evening will have a chance of some slight strays with the afternoon and evening prone to thunderstorm activity.

YAKIMA, Wash.- UPDATE: 12:53 p.m. Lieutenant Chad Janis of the Yakima Police Department has confirmed the 24-year-old shooting victim died just after 5 a.m. Saturday morning. YPD says they are looking into a person of interest, but no one has been arrested. Police are investigating the death as a homicide.

YAKIMA, Wash.- Scam calls throughout Yakima County have prompted officials to caution the public about fraudulent 'Warrant' or 'Subpoena' claims. According to the Yakima County Sheriff's Office, residents have alerted officials to scam callers using "Deputy Marshall" or "Max James." The scammers utilize 'Spoof' technology that enables the Sheriff's office's phone number to appear when calling. The scammers proceed to demand swift payment of fines over the phone.
