    Local roundup: Wyoming Area boys, girls track cap off undefeated seasons

    The Wyoming Area boys track and field team swept all 17 contested events to finish up another undefeated regular season with a dominant 121-7 win over Nanticoke Area on Tuesday.

    Lidge Kellum won the 110 and 300 hurdles, and added first-place finishes on Wyoming Area’s 400 and 1600 relay teams.

    Hazleton Area 91, Pittston Area 45

    The Cougars kept their undefeated WVC record intact with a win over Pittston Area.

    Franklin Ritz won the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs for Hazleton Area. Joseph Mazaika won the 110 and 300 hurdles.

    Jalen Moore was the top performer of the day for Pittston Area, winning the 100 and 200 dashes.

    GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

    Wyoming Area 86, Nanticoke Area 53

    The Warrior girls also picked up a win to finish the year undefeated, taking down Nanticoke Area.

    Lucia Campenni had a big day for Wyoming Area, winning the 100 and 300 hurdles along with the long jump. Lily Kelleher added wins in the 100 meter dash and the pole vault.

    Nevaeh Baran won the 200 dash, the 400 dash and the long jump for Nanticoke Area.

    Hazleton Area 71, Pittston Area 65

    Gabriella Bredbenner and Milana Daiute each won two individual events to help Hazleton prevail in a tight meet.

    Bredbenner won the 200 and 400 dashes, while Daiute won the 1600 and 3200 runs to help the Cougars overtake Pittston.

    Aria Messner won the long jump and the 100 dash for the Patriots, while also running a leg on the team’s first-place 400 relay unit.

    GIRLS LACROSSE

    Wyoming Seminary 12, Scranton Prep 9

    A balanced attack helped the Wyoming Seminary girls lacrosse team defend their home turf and knock off Scranton Prep.

    Five different Blue Knights scored at least two goals, led by Abby Williams who scored three times.

    Claire McGrath scored a game-high four goals to lead Scranton Prep.

    BOYS VOLLEYBALL

    Hanover Area 3, Lake-Lehman 0

    The Hawkeyes picked up their first WVC win of the year in straight sets over Lake-Lehman.

    Set scores were 25-13, 25-11 and 25-17 all in favor of Hanover Area.

    COLLEGES

    WOMEN’S TENNIS

    Scranton 5, Wilkes 0

    The Colonels were bounced from the Landmark Conference tournament with a loss in the first round.

    Wilkes, the sixth seed in the tournament, finished its inaugural season in the Landmark with a 4-5 mark in league play.
