Eastern Shawnee Tribe breaks ground on event center

WYANDOTTE, Okla. (KOAM) -- The Eastern Shawnee tribe broke ground Wednesday on an expansion to its Shawnee Skies Training Center and Shooting Complex.

The expansion will add an 8,000 sq ft. event center to the complex.

It will feature customizable seating, easy access to the shooting range, a climate controlled environment with covered outdoor seating, and enough room to accommodate gatherings of more than 250 people.

Officials say it will be used for corporate, personal, and family gatherings. They also plan to host future State and National level Sporting Clay Competitions, including the NSCA Oklahoma Sporting Clays State Championship on June 20th-23rd, 2024.

Shawnee Skies is located at 11245 S 705 Road in Wyandotte, OK. The facility is built for shooters of all levels from beginners to masters and offers Sporting Clays, Trap, Skeet, and Five Stand. The facility is open Thursday – Sunday, 8am-5pm.
