Keystone College accreditor makes grim statement on future
In the most definitive statement yet that Keystone College might fold, its accreditor has alerted the public that closure may be imminent. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education posted on its website Wednesday a message titled “Statement on Keystone College Closure” to correct “misleading information” from the college about its future and to leave no doubt that its outlook is dire. In March, the financially struggling, 156-year-old college scrapped a plan to have an outside group take over ownership of the college straddling Factoryville in Wyoming County and La Plume in Lackawanna County. Keystone College also is preparing to hold an annual Commencement graduation on May 18 and to hold summer activities on campus.

Police looking for Sullivan County vandal
Forksville, Pa. — A vandal threw a rock through the window of a Sullivan County home and now police are asking help finding the suspect. A caretaker for the Campbellville Road home in Elkland Township contacted police on May 3 just before 9 a.m. to report the damage. The rock is believed to have been thrown between May 1 at 6 a.m. and when it was reported on May 3. Police say a 62-year-old Marietta woman owns the property. The window is valued at $1,250. Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to contact Trp. Niccolo Cruciani of state police at Laporte.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Wait! They don’t fly! Is that an emu?. At least that’s what residents of Owego have shouted out on social media over the last year, or so. With sightings of an “Ostrich-shaped” bird running through the streets and even sightings at Owego’s dog park, the emu is commanding attention these days. The difference, however, between an emu and an ostrich is the number of toes, and the emu’s neck has feathers, unlike its counterpart that has two toes versus an emu’s three; and a naked neck.
