WOODRUFF, S.C. – As the weekend came to a close, a riverside festival in Woodruff celebrated all things local.

People gathered at Events by the River, a venue located alongside the Enoree River, to celebrate the third annual River Fest.

“Once they get here they are really surprised to see wow this is really pretty,” said Woodruff resident, Andera Wooten. “I didn’t realize that dirt road was bringing us here, but that’s country and we don’t have enough of that anymore so take a back road you never know what you will find.”

The festival gives visitors the chance to listen to music and meet shop vendors.

“It’s really just bringing the community together, having a good time, vendors come out and sell their products and put some good bands on stage and they perform. American Legion shows up in force to represent our community,” Bradley Kennedy, Commander of American Legion Post 33 said.

Everything from classic tunes to modern art, like Jennifer Lawless’s creations.

“All of this is resin pieces that we make at home, we make everything by hand, we have all of our resin pieces as well as our organic earrings, homemade bracelets,” said Lawless.

Attendees also got the chance to purchase a new furry friend.

“This time we also brought our Australian Shepherd puppies out to sell and we got one male and female left to go,” continued Lawless.

Vendors added that events like River Fest, are about celebrating all things local.

“Enjoying the outdoors, enjoying local events with local vendors, and listening to local music. We need more local,” Spartanburg Master Glass Blower, Shawn Martin said.

Organizers said there were between 30 to 40 vendors over the weekend.

The next event at Events by the River is Hippie Fest starting on May 24.
