    Woman arrested for beating man, 71, at LI rehab center, claiming he fell out of bed

    WOODMERE, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A Queens woman was arrested Tuesday for beating a 71-year-old man at a Long Island rehab center then claiming he fell out of the bed, authorities said.

    The incident occurred just before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, officials said.

    According to detectives, the victim, who suffers from a cognitive disorder was found to have bruises on Friday, May, 3 while under the care of the Woodmere Rehab Center located at 130 Irving Pl. in Woodmere.

    The victim’s legal guardian questioned the facility and was advised the victim fell out of bed multiple times.

    The legal guardian placed a camera in the victim’s room and observed Lisa Napier, 41, striking the victim multiple times with a closed fist in his face and lower body. Napier also allegedly shook him multiple times.

    The legal guardian responded to the facility and observed bruising on the victim’s face that was not present when she last saw him.

    Napier, a Laurelton resident, was arrested without incident.

    She is facing charges including assault and endangering the welfare of incompetent/physically disabled person.

    Napier was arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
