MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - The ETBU Tigers are headed to the regional final following a 12-0 win over Texas Lutheran on Friday. ETBU and TLU were tied at 0 entering the third inning. Former Hallsville Lady Cat Mallory Pyle reached base following a bunt, and former Elysian Fields Lady Jacket Mary Frances Ellis reached base on a throwing error which allowed Pyle and Morales to come in and score to give ETBU a 2-0 lead.
ETBU Advances in NCAA Tournament Holding Off Centenary, 5-2
MARSHALL, Texas — Slow and steady was the key for no. 4 East Texas Baptist University in their opening game of the NCAA Division III Marshall, Texas Regional as they held off Centenary College (La.), 5-2. ETBU scored one run in five different innings and used just two pitchers moving to 37-8 on the year and moving onto the semi-finals of the winner’s bracket.
Eustace’s Bell homers in ETBU win
MARSHALL, Texas (KLTV) - The ETBU Tigers opened the Marshall regional with a 10-0 win over Simmons. Former Eustace Lady Bulldog Emma Bell came up in the first inning with a runner on, and belted a two-run home run over the right field wall to give ETBU a 4-0 lead. The freshman finished 2 for 2 with two RBI and a run scored.
Tatum knocks out West Rusk 7-4 to advance to regional semifinals
BULLARD, Texas (KETK) — The Tatum Eagles are headed to the regional semis after beating West Rusk in Game Two of the Regional Quarterfinals at The Brook Hill School in Bullard on Friday night. The Eagles will get set to take on either Edgewood or Gunter for a spot in the Regional Finals.
Hallsville’s Slaten fans three in Boston loss
BOSTON (KLTV) - Former Hallsville Bobcat Justin Slaten had a 1-2-3 inning in Boston’s 7-5 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday. Slaten entered the game in the top of the seventh inning. Jonathan Aranda was the first batter of the inning and Slaten struck him out swinging. Slaten also got Isaac Paredes to go down swinging, and Richie Palacios was called out on strikes to end the inning.
Hallsville's Loyd scores twice in Sam Houston win
HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KLTV) - Former Hallsville Bobcat Easton Loyd scored two of his team’s 12 runs in Sam Houston’s 12-2 win over Jacksonville State on Friday. Batting sixth and starting at second base, the senior was 1-for-4 with a walk. Loyd singled to centerfield in the second inning and later scored on a single. In the eighth inning, Loyd walked and later scored on an error.
