Book ideas can come from anywhere, if you’re paying attention. And prolific children’s book author Donna Guthrie is always on the alert as she perambulates the world. Her latest work in progress was inspired by a visit to a musical instrument museum in California, where she learned about the lightweight Steinway pianos that were dropped from aircraft onto the battlefields during World War II. Steinway had four sons in the military, all of whom loved music, and he wanted to help troops play music and entertain themselves. The new knowledge sparked a story inside Guthrie, not unusual for the woman who’s written since she was 8.

Heavy snow, difficult travel reported in high country
The National Weather Service reported late Sunday morning that snow is falling at the rate of two to three inches an hour in Park and Teller counties. NWS's Boulder office, in a social media post, advised against travel over central mountain highways.Both directions of State Highway 285 over Kenosha Pass were closed since 7:30 a.m. due to a stalled vehicle, according the Colorado Department of Transportation.
