Woodburn totaled 19 top-three finishes on the afternoon. Joaquin Parsons finished first in the 100 meters in a personal best time of 11.14 seconds, while junior Lola Heide took first in the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, respectively, clocking in at 17.99 and 50.00. In the shot put, Sergio Bravo won with a throw of 42 feet, 9.5 inches, and took second in the discus at 112-6.5. Senior Alyana Ramirez won the triple jump in a personal best mark of 33-2.5 and finished fourth in the long jump at 14-7.

Carter Pickett took second in the 200 meters and long jump, clocking in at 24.48 and leaping 19-9. Edgar Canchola Marquez finished third in the 800, registering a personal best of 2:14.76. In the girls shot put, Kaylee Arroyo, Nathalia Alcantara and Kylie Kahut finished second, third and fourth, respectively, with marks of 29-2, 27-6 and 25-9.

Alcantara added a third-place finish in the discus, throwing 87-8. Hannah Peterson took second in the javelin at 107-4 and finished behind Alcantara in the discus with a mark of 84-10.5. Kiarah Bryant finished second in the high jump at 4-8 while K’Lynn Bryant took third at 4-6.

Dezmond Chavez, meanwhile, finished third in the shot put and discus, throwing marks of 39-8 and 104-2.5, respectively. In the boys high jump, Parsons finished second after clearing 5-10.

Below are the final varsity scores from the competition.

    Boys

    1. Crescent Valley 97.5

    2. West Albany 41.5

    3. Woodburn 39

    Girls

    1. Crescent Valley 95.33

    2. West Albany 50.67

    3. Woodburn 34

    Looking ahead

The Bulldogs will compete at the Mid-Willamette Conference Championships from Thursday, May 9-Saturday, May 11, at McGinnis Stadium in Silverton. The top two placers in each individual and relay event at each district meet automatically qualifies for the state championships later this month at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Currently, on the boys side, Parsons is second in the conference in the 100 meters and fourth in the high jump. Bravo should be in the mix for shot put, as he currently retains the sixth-best mark in the conference.

On the girls side, Heide will be in the hunt to qualify for state in both hurdle races, as she’s currently fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles. Ramirez should be a threat in the triple jump, where she’s currently ranked fourth in the conference and just half a foot away from second place.
