Farmville, Winterville men arrested in homicide

A third person has been arrested in a May 16 homicide at Sterling Pointe apartments, the Greenville Police Department announced Monday morning.

Zaquavion Carney, 19, of Winterville was arrested around 8 a.m. Monday at 3329 Stone Bend Drive. He has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Patrick Bland.

The incident occurred about about 7 p.m. in the area of building 3909, police reported. The complex is located off of Thomas Langston Road.

Officers responded to the report of multiple shots and found Bland suffering from gunshot wounds. He died from his injuries.

Two men were arrested a day after the shooting.

Kentavious Terell Condery, 20, of Farmville was charged with an open count of murder. Deontre Markee Taylor, 32, of Winterville was charged with possession of a firearm by felon and discharging a weapon into occupied property.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between neighbors, the department said. A preliminary investigation suggests Bland was visiting Taylor at the time of the shooting and was not the intended target. The investigation is ongoing.
