    Crime Roundup: Winterville man arrested for trafficking drugs in Beaufort County

    A Pitt County man was arrested by Beaufort County authorities on Wednesday after an investigation that led to the seizure of fentanyl and cocaine.

    A news release from the sheriff’s office said that deputies arrested Arthur Ray Pippins Jr., 26, of Winterville after three month investigation into the sale of fentanyl in Beaufort County. Deputies seized 268 fentanyl pills, 33 grams of cocaine and $9,156 in cash.

    Pippins was charged with two counts each of trafficking in opium or heroin (fentanyl), trafficking in cocaine and possession with intent to sell/distribute schedule II controlled substance. He was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and jailed under a $160,000 secured bond.

    Assaults

    1700 block Robert Drive, 5:54 p.m. May 1: woman assaulted by boyfriend at residence; case active.
