Ice Jams Cause County Road Closures
WASHBURN, Maine (WAGM) - Ice jams on the Aroostook River are causing flooding and roadway closures. The Grimes Road and the North Caribou Road are closed to traffic due to the flooding and a bridge at the end of Gardeners Creek in Washburn is completely underwater. PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - As county residents get out on the roads now that the snow is clearing, police are reminding folks of the dangers of distracted driving during April’s distracted driving awareness month. Karri Triplett spoke with local law enforcement about how you can stay focused behind the wheel. Many things can distract drivers. Like getting a text message, eating, or even passengers. While some distractions are brief, police warn that even a moment of inattention can cause an accident.

Houlton to seek bond for road reconstruction project
HOULTON, Maine — An Aroostook County road, plagued by extensive stormwater runoff and drainage problems, is slated for a $894,450 complete reconstruction this summer. The Houlton Board of Budget Review voted unanimously on March 6 in favor of bond financing for the Reservoir Hill Road project that extends from the base at Hillview Avenue to the top of Reservoir Hill.
