Drying Out Overnight, Breeze Remains
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - The FIRST ALERT has ended as the storm system that brought us heavy rainfall, snow & strong winds is now lifting to our northeast. Just a few light rain showers & snow showers remain across the north & east. Winds have now turned out of the WNW and will remain on the breezier side with gusts up to 25 mph. Lows will drop into the teens & 20s which will lead to the threat of any standing water turning into ice. The good news is most of us had a prolonged dry period this afternoon and has allowed many roads to dry, lowering the potential of black ice. Some patchy fog is also possible.

The City of Bangor has closed parking areas near the Kenduskeag Stream today out of concern for potential flooding. Heavy rains predicted Sunday night into Monday prompted city officials to make the decision to err on the side of caution. Precipitation Winds Down, Gradual Improvements This Afternoon
BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Low pressure will move to our northeast this afternoon. Rain will continue to taper off from southwest to northeast across the state during the early to mid-afternoon hours. Even as the rain comes to an end... the potential for minor flooding along smaller rivers and streams as well as low-lying areas will remain a concern through the evening as runoff catches up. Snow across the north will taper to snow showers. Drier air moving in behind the departing storm may allow for some breaks of sunshine this afternoon too especially south of Greenville and Millinocket. As of noontime... there were some spots Downeast still in the 50s while much of the rest of the state is in the 30s and 40s. Temperatures are expected to fall to the 20s across the north and 30s elsewhere by late afternoon/early evening. Temperatures will continue to drop to the upper teens to mid-20s for the overnight tonight under clear to partly cloudy skies. Any lingering moisture on the roads tonight will likely refreeze and could lead to some icy driving conditions tonight and early Tuesday.
