    1 shot in leg in Winston-Salem, man faces multiple charges, police say

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A man faces several charges after a victim was shot in the leg on Wednesday, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.

    At 4:45 p.m., Winston-Salem Pofficers responded to North Patterson Avenue to assist EMS with a shooting victim.

    Arriving officers found a 47-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived and took him to a hospital. His injuries at this time are not expected to be life-threatening.

    Investigators identified Derrick Redd, 34, of Winston-Salem, as the suspect in the shooting. Officers conducted a search warrant at his home and found various narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia.

    Redd was then found in the downtown area and taken into custody without incident.

    Redd was charged with:

    • felony ADWIKISI
    • felony possession of a firearm by a felon
    • felony PWISD Schedule I
    • felony PWISD Schedule VI
    • felony maintaining a dwelling for VCSA
    • possession of drug paraphernalia
    • possession of marijuana paraphernalia

    He was not given a bond.

    The investigation is ongoing.
