1 dead after 2 stabbed in Winston-Salem, police say; suspect charged with murder

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — A person has died after a stabbing in Winston-Salem.

Around 8:56 a.m., officers responded to a reported stabbing on North Liberty Street. Arriving officers found a 38-year-old Greensboro man, identified as Jamar Dewan Wiley, who had been stabbed in the chest.

Tuesday evening, Wiley died from his injuries sustained in the stabbing.

Investigators say the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with two people when one person stabbed him before leaving in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Around 9:13 a.m., officers responded to another reported stabbing on North Patterson Avenue. Arriving officers found a 26-year-old Kernersville man with a non-life-threatening stab wound. Investigators say the man was walking in the area when a person ran up and attacked him before driving off in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Investigators used video evidence from Liberty Street and Patterson Avenue to connect the two incidents.

The Chevrolet Tahoe was found at Northwest Boulevard and Marshall Street with two people inside.

Officers conducted a traffic stop, and Jeffrey Hugo Silva, 30, of Winston-Salem, and 27-year-old Oscar Daniel Noyola-Lopez were arrested in connection with both of the stabbings.

Police say this does not appear to be a random act of violence.

Noyola was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with the Intent to kill/inflict serious injury and misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the public. After the death of Wiley, Noyola was subsequently also charged with felony murder.

Silva was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill/inflict serious injury and felony accessory after the fact.

Both received no bond allowed.
