    National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is Tuesday, April 30. Here are facilities in Winston-Salem that work to find animals forever homes.
    • Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation (AARF) of Winston-Salem , 302 Thurston St. | Adoption fairs are Saturdays when you can meet dogs 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and cats 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | You must live within 45 minutes of AARF to be eligible to adopt. Cat adoption fees are $125. Dog adoption fees are $200-$250.
    • Forsyth County Animal Shelter , 5570 Sturmer Park Circle | Open Monday through Saturday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. + 2 p.m.-5 p.m. (adoptions end a half-hour before closing) | Adoption fees for cats and dogs are currently $75.
    • Forsyth Humane Society , 4881 Country Club Rd. | Open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. + 2 p.m.-6 p.m. (adoptions end a half-hour before closing) | Cat adoption fees are $50-$125. Dogs and puppies are $75-$225. Veterans and older adults receive discounts.
