Motorcycle Accident Claims Life
Friday afternoon an Orange man lost control of his motorcycle in Beaumont on College Street and died from his injuries. Terry Champeaux, 22, of Orange, was traveling west on Hwy. 90 in Jefferson County when he lost control and crashed. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities said he was not wearing a helmet.

Man Indicted For Soliciting
A Jefferson County Grand Jury has indicted 35 year old Christopher Honkomp of Orange for Solicitation of a Minor. On May 17 deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, along with the FBI and Beaumont PD, conducted an undercover operation where officers posted ads on a site known for human trafficking. Officers were contacted by Honkomp, who agreed to pay a fee for sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 18. Honkomp entered a Beaumont hotel room where he was arrested.
Murder indictments in Womack killing and shooting death near The Park on Calder
BEAUMONT — The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted suspects in two separate murder cases. The grand jury indicted Terry Jerome Booker for murder in the 2021 shooting death of Tyler Womack. Police arrested Booker after a defendant on trial for the murder pleaded guilty and provided information about Booker and two other suspects, who are already in jail on unrelated charges.

Headstone dedication for deputy's grave nearly a century after line of duty death
JEFFERSON COUNTY — The grave of a deputy who died in the line of duty now has a headstone, nearly a century after he was shot and killed in Jefferson County. Operation Blue Remembrance helped provided the headstone for the Wednesday morning ceremony, according to Capt. Crystal Holmes with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The organization locates graves of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. If those graves do not have a proper headstone, Operation Blue Remembrance provides one.
