Motorcycle Accident Claims Life
Friday afternoon an Orange man lost control of his motorcycle in Beaumont on College Street and died from his injuries. Terry Champeaux, 22, of Orange, was traveling west on Hwy. 90 in Jefferson County when he lost control and crashed. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities said he was not wearing a helmet.

Man Indicted For Soliciting
A Jefferson County Grand Jury has indicted 35 year old Christopher Honkomp of Orange for Solicitation of a Minor. On May 17 deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, along with the FBI and Beaumont PD, conducted an undercover operation where officers posted ads on a site known for human trafficking. Officers were contacted by Honkomp, who agreed to pay a fee for sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 18. Honkomp entered a Beaumont hotel room where he was arrested.
CBI's most wanted sex offender fugative taken into custody
A fugitive on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's most wanted sex fugitive list has been captured, according to the agency.Authorities with CBI announced Wednesday that fugitive David Mack was taken into custody with the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on Monday. CBI says he's previously been convicted of attempted sexual assault on a child and was also wanted in El Paso County for failing to register as a sex offender.

A strong thunderstorm is expected to affect several areas in Texas, including North Central Jefferson, Southeastern Hardin, and Northwestern Orange counties until 5:15 PM CDT. The storm, detected on Doppler radar at 4:43 PM CDT, is moving southwest at a speed of 15 mph. The main hazards associated with this storm are wind gusts of up to 40 mph and hail of half an inch in size. The source of this information is radar data. The impact of the storm may include the knocking down of tree limbs, blowing around of unsecured objects, and potential minor damage to vegetation and outdoor objects. Locations such as Beaumont, Vidor, Rose City, Pine Forest, Lakeview, and Weiss Bluff are expected to be affected. Additionally, Interstate 10 in Texas, between mile markers 863 and 848, falls within the area of impact. The maximum hail size recorded was 0.50 inches, and the maximum wind gust was 40 mph.
Fugitive Howard Lyons Captured in Mexico on Child Sex Assault Charges After 18 Years
The FBI, together with Mexican authorities and Interpol, successfully located Howard Lyons in the Yucatan Peninsula. Their efforts ended an 18-year search. Lyons fled from Jefferson County in 2005 when he faced child sex assault charges. He's since been flown back and is currently in Jefferson County Jail with no bond due to the risk of flight.
