    High School Highlights: New Trier nets bass fishing sectional; Trevians badminton also wins sectional; LA lacrosse tops NT in overtime

    BASS FISHING
    Skokie Lagoons Sectional

    Max Rempel, of New Trier, caught the day’s biggest bass at 3 pounds, 13 ounces on Thursday, May 2, in the Skokie Lagoons, leading the Trevians No. 1 boat (Rempel, Seamus Whalen) to first place (10 pounds, 3 ounces) and a spot in the state finals.

    BASEBALL
    New Trier 9, Maine South 2

    Evan Olesker homered and tallied 4 RBI to lead the Trevians (19-3) to their league win on Thursday, May 2.

    Noah Shapo earned the win on the mound in New Trier’s 16th straight victory.

    New Trier 6, Maine South 0

    Max Kaplan struck out seven through six innings of work to pick up the win for the Trevians on Tuesday, April 30.

    Declan Spinner knocked in two runs as New Trier (18-3) won its 15th straight game.

    St. Rita 12, Loyola 5

    The Ramblers could not keep up with the Mustangs on Tuesday, April 30.

    Highland Park 9, Vernon Hills 3

    Shamar Wilson had two hits, two RBI and a stolen base in the Giants’ league win on Tuesday, April 30.

    Nick Blumer was 2-for-2 with a double and RBI for Highland Park.

    Loyola 4, St. Ignatius 2

    The Ramblers completed a comeback win on Monday, April 29.

    Loyola 13, St. Ignatius 3

    Ryan Garofoli’s two-run double highlighted a nine-run fifth inning in the Ramblers’ victory on Saturday, April 27.

    SOFTBALL
    Glenbrook South 10, New Trier 1

    The Trevians (8-10) took a home loss on Thursday, May 2.

    Montini 14, Loyola 3

    The host Ramblers (10-10) dropped the league matchup on Thursday, May 2, in Glenview.

    Regina 16, Francis Parker 13

    Izzie Christensen tallied four hits, four runs and four RBI in the Panthers’ victory on Thursday, May 2.

    Ava Suderski and Stella Ozenbaugh chipped in three hits apiece for Regina.

    Loyola 3, Lane Tech 0

    Hunter Lewis struck out 15 batters while recording her third no-hitter of the season for the Ramblers on Wednesday, May 1.

    New Trier 5, Highland Park/Deerfield 3

    The Trevians’ four-run third was enough to get the league crossover victory on Tuesday, April 30.

    Marin Kileen had three hits for HP/Deerfield in the home loss in Deerfield.

    Loyola 13, St. Ignatius 7

    The Ramblers erased a four-run deficit to pick up the rivalry win on the road Monday, April 29.

    GIRLS SOCCER
    New Trier 0, Glenbrook South 0

    Annie Fowler was the keeper for the Trevians as they battled the Titans to a draw on Thursday, May 2

    Regina 2, Resurrection 0

    Caroline Sullivan and Kate Ludden found the net, while goalie Delaney Kevin stopped a penalty kick for the Panthers on Thursday, May 2.

    New Trier 2, Maine South 0

    Charlotte Dellin and Josie Noble recorded the goals in the Trevians’ league victory on Tuesday, April 30.

    Latin 6, Regina 2

    Kate Ludden and Miranda Thomas scored for the Panthers in the loss on Tuesday, April 30.

    New Trier 1, Benet 0

    Sybil Evans’ early first-half goal stood up for the Trevians on Monday, April 29, in the championship game of the Naperville Invitational.

    BOYS VOLLEYBALL
    Loyola 18-25-25, St. Francis 25-16-19

    Jack Lopez (8 kills), Ben Trapp (8), Drew Bevan (7), Liam Uruba (7) and Dean Sollecito (6) led a balanced Ramblers’ attack in the league win on Thursday, May 2.

    Nathan Chi passed out 36 assists as Loyola (24-1) avenged its only loss of the season.

    BOYS LACROSSE
    Loyola 6, New Trier 5 (OT)

    Drew Schwitz recorded the game-winning goal in overtime for the visiting Ramblers on Saturday, April 27, in Northfield.

    GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD
    Ridgewood Invitational

    Sara Byrne won the 100-meter run and triple jump to propel Regina Dominican to a team title on Tuesday, April 30.

    Nora McCade added a title in the 300 hurdles, and the Panthers finished first in two relays (400 and 800) in the 10-team meet.

    BADMINTON
    New Trier Sectional

    Madison Liu won 21-11 and 21-10 to claim the singles bracket and lead New Trier to a team championship on Thursday, May 2, in Winnetka.

    Raina Patel and Tess Trieu beat their Trevians teammates Kelsea Banh and Elizabeth Dabiza for the sectional championship on the doubles side.
