Hope Scholarship Board to host 'Ask the Expert' event in Charleston
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — State officials will be hosting a meeting in Charleston Saturday to help families interested in the Hope Scholarship. On May 11, Hope Scholarship Board staff will be at the Kanawha County Public Library's main branch to assist parents looking to apply, according to a news release from the board. Witness issue stalls case involving Charleston police officer accused of domestic battery
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — Witness problems have again derailed efforts to resolve a domestic battery charge against a Charleston police officer. Sgt. Chris Johnson never appeared in a scheduled court hearing planned for Thursday. The case centers around allegations that Johnson punched his girlfriend in South Charleston back in October.

Man who pleaded guilty in deadly DUI crash sentenced to prison
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man who pleaded guilty in a DUI crash that killed a mother and her daughter was sentenced to prison Tuesday. Andrew Wyrick, 26, was sentenced to 3-15 years for each of his four driving under the influence charges. He pleaded guilty to the charges in March.

WILMINGTON — Dayton Carroll put a damper Thursday evening on Wilmington’s Senior Night with an 11-4 victory on the Hurricane baseball field.
