Warren faces charges after chase
MARION COUNTY — Thomas Donald Warren, 39, of Nauvoo, was arrested on Friday, April 12, at approximately 11 p.m. by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. His multiple charges include felony attempting to elude, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, four counts of failure to signal, switched tag, no tail lights and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Former councilwoman passes away
WINFIELD — Gloria Stovall, who served on the Winfield City Council for 12 years as the second woman to hold the position, passed away at home on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Stovall, who was 79, grew up in Winfield. She was born in 1944 to her parents Brody and Addine Rose. They were members of Winfield Church of Christ.

Two killed in single-vehicle crash in Winston County
WINSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Winston County Saturday morning. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said 47-year-old Refugio A. Sosa and 50-year-old, both of Haleyville, were fatally injured when the 2001 Ford Mustang they were in left the roadway and struck a tree.
Lady Pirates win county tournament

Subject of Walker County manhunt captured
A man who ran from deputies last Wednesday was caught Saturday afternoon. The Walker County Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Aaron Clay Sartain of Oakman was taken into custody on Dixie Spring Road in Oakman. Sartain was wanted for probation violation and two counts of destruction of state property.
