The Cleaning Crew of Marion County
If you travel around Marion County, I am sure you have seen those critters called turkey vultures. And most likely you have seen them feeding on whatever that object was that they are feeding on. No doubt the turkey vultures are important to our environment. They clean up the roadside of those critters that did not make it to the other side of the road.
Fayette City Council considers request
The Fayette City Council held its regular council meeting on May 23. Councilman Jerry Nichols was absent from the meeting, with all other council members present. The meeting was opened in prayer, led by Caleb Hall, pastor at Fayette Church of Christ.

Commission holds meeting at Concord
The Fayette County Commission held its May 22 meeting at the fellowship hall of Concord Baptist Church, at the request of Commissioner Robert Townley. All commissioners were present for the meeting. A local pastor, Terry Oswalt opened the meeting with a prayer.

Aggie band performs spring concert
The program consisted of three groups: the sixth grade band, the seventh and eighth grade band and the high school band, and they did not disappoint. The evening was a tribute to great composers of concert band music, and the well-rehearsed ensembles gave their audience a night of entertainment and culture.
Walker County man arrested for possession of carfentanil
WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A man in north Walker County is in jail after the Walker County Sheriff’s Office obtained a felony warrant from a carfentanil seizure. Donald Ricky Smith, 65, was arrested Tuesday and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigator Jim Browne then followed up with a search warrant of Smith’s residence on Arrow Head Lane off of Fall City Road.

Three arrested on drug charges
On May 21, the Fayette County Sheriff’s office, along with officers from the Berry and Fayette police departments, executed a search warrant in the 400 block of County Rd. 128 in Berry. The search warrant was obtained after a lengthy investigation into the unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

‘March for Jesus’ draws huge crowd
Despite a light, misty rain during the start of this year’s event, Organizer Milborn Savage estimated that more than 500 people attended the 25th “March for Jesus” walk and rally held in downtown Fayette on Saturday, May 20. The march began at the Depot Museum and concluded at the Fayette First Methodist Church, where a rally was held for a standing-room only crowd. No garbage collection in Haleyville Monday
HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Street and Sanitation Department will be closed Monday, May 29, in observance of Memorial Day. Therefore, there will be no trash collection on that date. Monday's garbage route will be collected on Tuesday, May 30, along with the regular Tuesday route.
