At Schuyler Falls Holiday Fest: Santa comes to town
Santa and Mrs. Claus made an early Christmas stop at the Schuyler Falls Town Hall with gifts and treats for all. — SCHUYLER FALLS | The Town Hall here became a Christmas wonderland on Dec. 20. Filled with bright colored lights and holiday joy, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived with the Holiday Festival parade shortly after the town's Christmas tree was lit. A wall of gifts took over Town of Schuyler Falls meeting room tables. Pizza and all kinds of cookies, donuts. hot cocoa, apple cider and coffee kept an entire town full and kids happy while waiting for a chance to sit with Santa. Town Supervisor Mindy Smith smiled as families gathered in a room exquisitely decked for community cheer. The big wall of presents was carefully stacked, wrapped and labeled by age for girls and boys. Throughout the party, kids tore into their gifts and grinned. Over 50 local families attended the very festive community celebration. Santa's Parade included many local business vehicles draped in lights, along with Morrisonville Volunteer Fire Department and neighboring department trucks and Schuyler Falls Highway Department equipment.

Vermont concerts and shows 2026 brings Neko Case, burlesque next month
It’s so tempting once the holiday season is over to hang up your coat and say, “That’s it, I’m staying in all winter and doing nothing but reading books and binge-watching cringe-worthy streaming shows.” Ah, yes, the apple in the Garden of Eden was alluring, too. Don’t fall for those easy temptations. Sure, a good book and bad TV have their rewards, but so does going outside — yes, sometimes in the snow and cold and wind and general bleakness — to then go inside for a delightful concert, play or art exhibition. You’ll have to work a little harder to get there, but these 31 events might just make it worthwhile. Beethoven, not Mahler, in Colchester 3 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, and 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, the Green Mountain Mahler Festival performs Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in two concerts at the Elley-Long Music Center, Colchester. $20-$30. vtmahler.org Two nights for 12 th Night in Cabot 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, the sixth-annual Cabot Village 12 th Night Celebration begins with a concert by the Bob and Sarah Amos Duo in the Willey Building Auditorium, followed from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, with appearances by Indigenous storyteller Hears Crow
