Cheshire Railroad Depot purchases historic rail car from Vermont
TROY, N.H. — A historic train car that was parked in North Walpole now has a new home in Troy. The Troy Historical Society and Cheshire Railroad Depot started fundraising over a year ago to bring the Budd Rail Diesel Car to the railway next to the restored depot. It was purchased from the Vermont Railway after years of being out of service in the Vermont Railyard.

DPW Director Dick Kilhart said when a valve is opened or closed, it can create an ocean wave or a ‘water hammer,’ increasing the pressure inside the pipes. (Bernardston, MA) After a traveler in Bernardston was scammed by a towing company they found through Google, Bernardston and Greenfield Police Departments warned residents to be wary of searching online for services, and in particular, Miley’s Tow Service who claims to be ran out of an abandoned building Greenfield. The company had a full website and paid for ads on Google, however no tow truck arrived after the resident paid a deposit. The residents were able to resolve the situation with their credit card company and the help of Bernardston Police.

A ceremony took place at Fitzwilliam Town Hall on November 29th, recognizing seven emergency services professionals from Fitzwilliam, Troy, and Cheshire County. The group, including three EMTs, three dispatchers, and one paramedic, were honored for their decisive actions that resulted in saving a Fitzwilliam resident's life. These professionals are part of the Fitzwilliam Fire Department, the Troy Fire Department, Southwestern NH Fire Mutual Aid, and Cheshire EMS. They arranged for the resident to be airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.

On November 25, 2023, Trooper Troy Couillard of the New Hampshire State Police initiated a high-speed chase that ended in a car crash. While patrolling in Sullivan, Couillard detected a vehicle speeding westbound on Route 9. The driver didn't stop when signaled, leading to a chase. The vehicle hit speeds of up to 90 MPH before crashing into a utility pole.
