Real Moms, the KWVH show that airs every Friday at 3 p.m. is here to tell you how the cow really ate the cabbage. Hosts Kelli Goforth, Susie Lowry and Chrissy Neal play a little music and dish on everything from kids and camps to marriage, menopause and depression during a show that celebrates its seven year anniversary this month.

Their Real Mom credentials are solid. Kelli, a native Wimberley person, raised six kids and now has seven grandbabies. Susie raised her “niece-daughter” after her sister passed away. Chrissy, who taught school for 28 years, is the mother of three boys, all grown. All are empty nesters with plenty of experience and wisdom to share with new moms looking to learn new parenting skills and other moms looking for a fresh perspective. Each month they nominate a mom of the month and give her a well-deserved gift basket.

Sometimes listeners will tune in to a Real Mom’s show arranged around a theme, as in the recent eclipse, and “sometimes,” Kelli told me in a recent interview, “we’ll binge a topic or talk about movies and favorite websites.”

Usually one person plans the music for the show. “When it comes to music, I’m all over the place,” said Kelli. Susie likes “dark goth music, alternative ‘90s rock and grunge.” Chrissy likes all kinds of music, “including late ‘60s and early ‘70s tunes.”

Kellie began her tenure with KWVH by interning with Coach Smith on the Over Easy with Coach show for a year and then met Chrissy who is Coach’s co-host. Susie knew the others from shared activities outside the station.

Although they have different personalities, Susie, Chrissy and Kelli genuinely like each other and enjoy a warm friendship off the air. According to Chrissy, the three are always on a group text trading information or otherwise checking in. You may have already met the lively trio on the Wimberley Square. Every year they dress up for Halloween and hand out candy to the kids. Like all real moms, they never fail to make a big impression.
