WILTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Around 1:35 p.m. on April 15, a man was driving recklessly northbound on Danbury Road near Ridgefield Road.

The man was identified as Jorge A. Oliva, 48, of Trumbull. He was charged with assault of public safety officers, interfering with an investigation, reckless driving, failure to stop, and littering.

Officers then saw Oliva driving at high speed in the southbound lanes, endangering opposing traffic. He engaged officers in pursuit, even throwing a baseball cap out of his window during the chase.

Minutes after the pursuit was called off, Oliva crashed his vehicle into two others at the intersection of Danbury Road and Olmstead Hill Road, injuring one driver who was transported to Norwalk Hospital.

Oliva then physically assaulted two Wilton police officers who were the first to respond, kicking one and punching the other in the nose.

After a brief struggle, Oliva was arrested then transported to Norwalk Hospital for minor injuries.

He was being held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on April 16 at 10 a.m.
