Several local high school golfers recently qualified for the 5A state tournament after competing in district and regional tournaments over the past two weeks.

First, at the Northwest Oregon Conference district tournament at Indian Creek Golf Course, Wilsonville, led by the sophomore tandem of Layla Sidhu and Evie Dunn, advanced as a team on the girls side. Sidhu and Dunn were the top two finishers conference-wide, while junior Madeline Downie, freshman Sophia Raschko and senior Malia Kaleikilo will round-out the Wildcats’ fivesome at state.

Meanwhile, Putnam’s Eleanor Wright fired a 92 to qualify as an individual at Indian Creek, while La Salle Prep qualified as a group at the 5A Special District 1 at-large regional at Aspen Lakes Golf Course on Wednesday. The Falcons will send a fivesome of senior Sydney Anderson, senior Josephine Robinson, sophomore Charlotte Robinson, freshman Izzy Garlington and freshman Paisley McCoy to the state tournament next week.

On the boys side, it was La Salle Prep that qualified as a team at the district tournament, as the freshman tandem of Jonas Caddell and Matthew Martin were the top two finishers conference-wide, while senior Roman Jensen, freshman Will DeMonte and senior Dawson Stroud will round-out the Falcons’ fivesome at state.

Meanwhile, Wilsonville advanced as a group at the at-large regional on Tuesday, sending junior Michael Flaherty, junior Luke Sidhu, sophomore Simon Bonfiglio, junior Evan Hoobler and sophomore Charlie Nelson to the state tournament next week.

The boys will be in action starting next Monday at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, while the girls start the same day at Emerald Valley Golf Course in Eugene.
