PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — A Taser was deployed on a man who was arrested at a Wilsonville grocery store on Monday after he allegedly threatened customers and employees with a hammer.

The Wilsonville Police Department said that 47-year-old David Lee Mangum entered the Safeway on Wilsonville Road at 6:38 p.m. and tried to attack multiple people with the hammer. Deputies assigned to the police department responded to the scene and initiated a standoff with the suspect inside the store.

“Deputies quickly entered the store and located the man in an aisle,” WPD said. “The man was not cooperative with the deputies’ commands, and continuously yelled at the deputies to kill him.”

“Deputies used a non-lethal Taser to safely subdue him and take him into custody,” officials said.

Mangum was booked into the Clackamas County Jail and faces charges of attempted assault, menacing and disorderly conduct. Mangum also had multiple warrants for his arrest for failing to appear in court for charges of burglary, criminal trespassing and theft. Mangum is being held on $7,500 bail.
