Winter gas rates for many in Mass. hold steady — a rare reprieve as other costs rise

On a gray November morning in Worcester, the gas bill that lands in a mailbox can feel like a verdict. Heat is not a luxury in New England. It is also narrow, and it does not rewrite the longer story of what it costs to stay warm north of Hartford and south of the Canadian border.
