Williamsport, Pa. — A man allegedly threatened a woman while holding two knives inside a home in Williamsport.

Coty Allen Schaffer, 24, "got mad and threatened to kill" his victim during an argument on May 18 near the 1600 block of Catherine Street, Officer Jacob Huling said. Schaffer grabbed two knives and stabbed a banister while making threats toward the victim, Huling added.

Both people were in an upstairs bedroom at the home when police arrived shortly after 4 a.m., according to a complaint. Schaffer came downstairs and spoke with police, Huling wrote.

The victim told police that Schaffer became mad when she called 911, according to investigators. She claimed to be in fear for her life after Schaffer grabbed the knives and started stabbing the banister, Huling said.

Schaffer is being charged with terroristic threats and simple assault. He is being held at the Lycoming County Prison on $10,000 monetary bail.
